The legislature's Regulations Review Committee gave its final approval to the 2005 State Building Code on October 25, 2005. The new Code became effective on December 30, 2005. See the Dept. of Public Safety's Announcement on the new building code. With the adoption of the new State Building Code that became effective on December 30, 2005, changes to the 2003 IRC became applicable in CT.
Christopher Laux, AIA, State Building Inspector, was a keynote speaker at RCS 2008 - January 10, 2008 - answered many code questions from attendees.
HBA urged changes to proposed 2005 Building Code on handicap accessibility requirements. See HBA's 9/2/05 comments to Regulations Review Committee and background building code sections . See the Final 2005 Connecticut Supplement to the State Building Code (accessibility provisions begin on p. 37).
On May 25, 2004, the legislature’s Regulatory Review Committee approved the 2004 Supplement to the 1999 State Building Code. This means that effective September 1, 2004, the State adopted the 2003 International Residential Code in place of the 1995 CABO; the 2002 National Electrical Code in place of the 1999 NEC; and the 2003 International Energy Conservation Code in place of the 1995 Model Energy Code.
