Leading Our Members to Professional Excellence!

2008-2009 Annual Report

Who We Are

The HBA of Connecticut, Inc. represents the home building, land development and remodeling industry in Connecticut:

A non-profit, 501(c)(6), professional trade association organized in 1960;
With 1,100 member firms employing over 40,000 people throughout the state;
We are the "State HBA" - the statewide component of a federation of affiliated but distinct organizations, including the National Association of Home Builders ("NAHB") (located in Washington, DC) and five local HBAs in Connecticut;
Our "Builder" member firms are engaged in new residential construction (both single family and multifamily units), new light commercial construction, remodeling and renovation of existing residential and commercial buildings, and land development activities on residential, commercial and industrial zoned land;
Our "Associate" member firms are in businesses providing supplies, services and expertise to the building, remodeling and land development industries;
Our Mission and Vision (see below) are developed through a professionally managed long range strategic planning process. Strategic planning and other "state of the art" association management practices are critical for nonprofit associations to be effective and guide the management and policies of the HBA of CT;
Working together as a team, the state association’s Board of Directors, Senior Officers, committees, other HBA member volunteers and the state HBA staff solve industry problems and promote its growth, upholding the highest degree of professionalism, integrity, work ethic, association management expertise and industry knowledge.

The HBA of Connecticut’s Mission is to Lead Our Members to Professional Excellence.  We Represent the CT Residential Construction Industry Through Advocacy & Education.

By working toward our mission through our strategic plan, we promote greater opportunities throughout the state for the production of safe, decent, affordable and economically feasible housing for all of Connecticut’s citizens.
